Kôlam
Prabhu Edouard (1st album)
Lokanga 2016
The maverick Indo-French tabla virtuoso Prabhu Edouard unveils his 1st album KÔLAM highlighting another facet of his musicianship as a leader and composer.
A Kôlam is a geometrical and colorful pattern drawn on the floor as an auspicious symbol in south India, the native land of the artist.
Likewise Prabhu’s musical Kôlam shows a colorful and comtemporary indian sound patchwork led by his masterly tablas.
A special crew made of eclectic musicians joins Prabhu Edouard throughout his musical journey.
Britanian flutist Sylvain Barou, Bass player Johann Berby from Réunion and indian santoor wizard Sandip Chatterjee are the core members of his team.
At times the quartet expands into a wider band by welcoming mesmerizing guests:
Sabir Khan (sarangi), Runa Rizvi (vocal), Paban Das Baul (vocal), M.Yogeswaran (vocal), Jesse Bannister (saxophone)
Jazz fusion wizard Nguyên Lê brings his sparkling touch to the mix of this album
Mastering: Bruno Gruel, Elektra Mastering
Kôlam Live Band (4tet):
Prabhu Edouard: tablas, percussions, vocal, laptop
Sandip Chatterjee (santoor) or Mieko Miyazaki (koto)
